About David

After graduating from Stanford University with a B.A. in Psychology, I received my M.S. in Counseling with an emphasis in school and career counseling. While pursuing my masters degree, I worked as a counselor for two years at Sacramento State and at multiple high schools. I also co-founded a tutoring company, employing some of the most passionate and highest achieving tutors in the Sacramento area (graduates of Stanford and Princeton, among others).

In addition to 4 years of high school counseling (with an emphasis on college admissions), I have been a community college counselor for the past two years. My primary role as a community college counselor is to help students to transfer to the University of California and California State University systems, as well as private universities. Outside of the public school system, I have privately been assisting students gain acceptance into the UC system and private universities. I have also been accepted to 100% of the universities to which I have applied (both at the undergraduate and graduate levels):

4. UC San Diego
5. UC Davis
6. University of Southern California (undergraduate and graduate)

Counseling Style

Every student has a unique story to tell the world or more specifically, to tell an admissions officer at particular universities. These personal stories are not always easy for a student to convey and that’s where I come in. I work with students diligently until this story can be shown in a succinct, yet thorough personal statement. This process can sometimes be the start to the application or the finish. Either way the student will ultimately put their best foot forward while working with me.

Throughout the process students will discover what colleges will best fit their goals, major, location preferences, and their GPA and test scores. When considering all of these variables, students will have a greater understanding of what colleges will best suit their needs and be the most attainable. My philosophy is to make the college application process less stressful for the students and the family. I welcome questions throughout the process and strive to help the students gain confidence in themselves and achieving their own personal goals.

I had no knowledge of the college app process. David educated me and my son Nathan about critical aspects regarding UC application, such as topics to focus in personal statement etc.
