Amy Pimentel has worked in college access, counseling, and student services for over 12 years. Amy formally served as an External Reader of UC Berkeley Admissions for several years.
I am a former Freshman Admissions Reader for UC Berkeley and a first-generation college graduate with degrees from NYU (BSW) and Antioch University (MFA in Creative Writing), as well as a College Counseling Certificate from UCLA. Currently, I work at a community college focusing on building and strengthening career pathways for high school students in the San Diego area. I manage the high school articulation program that provides early college credit opportunities to high school students and serves on college and regional committees that focus on connecting students to high-wage, high-demand careers. In addition, she has presented at numerous local, state, and national conferences.
I enjoy helping students match to the colleges right for them and discover their stories through personal statements and personal insight questions. This is the beginning of your journey, and I’m here to serve as a guide.
In my free time, I can be found building train tracks or living in a pillow house built by my four-year-old son. I also enjoy the beach and any time that I can sneak in a movie or book.
