Amy was an external reader of applications at UC Berkeley. Her own experience fumbling through the college application process led her to pursue a career in college admissions guidance.
Amy is a first-generation college graduate whose own experience fumbling through the college application process lead her to pursue a career in
college access in 2007. Since then, Amy has worked in nonprofits and higher education institutions assisting students, families, and educators. Her passion for helping others lead to a degree in Social Work from NYU. Later, she returned to her first love of writing and earned an MFA from Antioch University. While the combination might seem odd to some, she feels they fit together in her role helping students find the right college fit and express themselves in a unique and authentic way in their personal statements. A life-long learner, Amy earned her College Counseling Certificate from UCLA Extension. In addition, she was a Freshmen Admissions Reader for UC Berkeley and a lead content contributor for the Tulare County United Way College Access Initiative text campaign. Over the years, Amy’s work has earned her awards for her innovation and impact in the Bay Area and Tulare County in California. She is an active member of WACAC and has presented at several state and national conferences. When she’s not helping students, she sneaks in reading time while her son naps.

There’s a college for everyone, but before thinking about which colleges to apply to, students must start with their career interests and go from there. Everyone’s list will look different because we are all unique individuals with our own stories and goals. I enjoy helping students match to the colleges right for them and discover their stories through personal statements and personal insight questions. This is the beginning of your journey, and I’m here to serve as a guide.
