As an Assistant Director of Admission at CMU, Chris received extensive training in majors ranging from computer science, math and engineering. With 16+ years at the university level and elite private high schools, he has a keen eye for how students can differentiate themselves while applying to the most selective majors.
As a first-generation student and first in my family to earn a Master’s degree, I enter my 15th year working in higher/secondary education. As an Assistant Director of Admission at CMU, I received extensive training in quantitative majors ranging from computer science, mathematics, natural science, and engineering to economics, finance, and even architecture. I am well-versed in evaluating left-brain and right-brain applicants, helping each student I collaborate with present their authentic self unapologetically.
Being present and accessible to my students/families helps alleviate anxieties. There will be a lot of noise/misinformation, so good information and data are essential for students to make informed decisions.
Now residing in Los Angeles, I love taking advantage of my local neighborhoods like Santa Monica, Venice, and Abbot Kinney with my Scottish Terrier, Wallace. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, I love everything black and gold, including my hometown Steelers and Penguins.

Our first experience with Chris was with our daughter who was a strong cum laude scholar with an arts background. She had a very definitive sense of where she wanted to go. Chris made sure to frame her narrative to her chosen school’s representative in the best possible fashion.
Then came our son, a very bright kid with an uneven GPA and very strong and specific interests. Not the obvious candidate our daughter was. Chris found a way to present him as the unique and compelling thinker that he is. The close relationships Chris has with college admissions representatives also allowed him to cut through the bureaucracy and be a credible and compelling proponent for a kid whose strengths lay outside-the-box.

From the inception of our relationship with Chris, he has faithfully guided both of my children to success in higher education after high school. He was not only available but always checking in on them with their schedules, their classes, and their general well being. It takes a special gift to bond with high school students and have them open the door to their dreams and future plans. Mr. Sharp has that key and really knows how to interpersonally connect with each student. His detailed understanding of the college process and his extensive relationships with universities across the nation make him uniquely qualified to give students advice and guidance on their specific journey through the application process. Most importantly for me as a parent, he made every attempt to assuage any fears and answer all of my questions every step of the way.
