Denise has extensive experience in various counseling settings, including comprehensive middle and high schools. As a counselor at high performing charter and public schools for the past eight years, she has helped her students gain admittance to colleges including: University of California, Los Angeles, Harvard, Stanford, Yale, and Princeton. Denise believes in working with the whole student, and practices a holistic approach to counseling.
As an experienced school counselor, I have supported a wide range of students from valedictorians to those struggling to find their intrinsic motivation. I understand the needs of parents and students and enjoy offering educational workshops to support student growth and personal development. I am well versed in assisting students in the process of finding their best fit path and guiding them through college admissions requirements for: UC, California State Universities, and highly competitive universities.
My former students and colleagues agree that my sense of humor makes working with me an enjoyable experience. I approach everything with positivity and try to bring joy to those I work with.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my little one. He is definitely the light of my life, and makes me appreciate every day. I also believe that all parents have as much love, and want for their child/children to do well and be happy, in the same way that I do. As a result, I treat every child/ young adult I work with, with the same care and concern as my own.
