Karen has 20+ years of college admissions counseling experience and expertise with both public schools and rigorous private schools students. As an External Reader for UC Admissions for several years, Karen understands what top tier colleges seek. She also serves as UCEazy’s Director of the College Admissions Program.
As a career educator with 20 years of college planning experience, I specialize in college essay development, proper course selection, and fitting students into the most ideal university environment. I have been selected to speak at national events, published county-wide college planning workbooks that are still in use today, developed a multi-day college planning bootcamp, and visited hundreds of colleges and universities around the country. I am highly active at the national and local levels of college admissions and stay current with college selectivity, testing standards, and student development trends. Whether it’s the excitement a student experiences upon learning they’ve been accepted at their first choice or the sudden awakening of an anxious parent who for so long was nervous about allowing their first child to pilot the college planning journey, I am in it to help families learn together for the benefit of their graduating senior.
Communication and clear expectations are key. Fact and information gathering is essential to this process. Using my experience in many different areas we work together to find not only the best fit in a college and university, but also, to present the best application possible.
Living in the Tahoe area, you’ll find me in my free time outdoors. Usually I am trail running and hiking with my Australian Shepard Ranger, stand up paddleboarding and enjoying the lake in the summer and skiing in the winter.

“Karen was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and cared deeply for both my kids who are now at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business and Georgetown University. She guided them from the early stages of researching to the final stages of admission results. They are thriving in their studies and in life. We owe Karen a debt of gratitude and a ton of thanks forever!”
