I have encountered and overcame many hardships while seeking a better future for my family and myself. Despite being the first in my immediate family to graduate from high school, I now hold two degrees in Social Work from California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). I also completed my Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership at the University of Southern California (USC) School of Rossier, where I walked across the commencement stage with pride in May of 2019. For the past decade, I have worked with students and families as they navigate the college admissions and financial aid process. Throughout my career, I have worked as College Peer Advisor, Motivational Mentor/Coach/Speaker, External Reader for UC Berkeley Admissions, and as a Director of a College Access Program in Southern California. In addition to my professional college access roles, I am also a published author and business owner. My education, professional, and entrepreneurship experiences have provided me with a special knack for helping students see their fullest potential and guiding them through the college admission process. These experiences have also aided me in understanding the importance of parent education and engagement in ensuring their children’s collegiate preparation and success.

“Success favors those who prepare for success, if one isn’t preparing for success then they will not be successful.” -Keyon
Since 2009, I have worked that many students/families who have the hopes and dreams of attending top schools (I.e., USC, UCB, Stanford), but overwhelmingly haven’t done the basics to increase their odds of gaining admissions. In today’s, competitive admissions environment having perfect grades and test scores aren’t enough. Students must do everything in their power to be competitive and set themselves apart from other students, and that’s where I come in. I help students in mapping out actionable steps to reaching their intended goal(s).
Listening to students allows me to get to know them better and enable me to gain insight into their motivation (i.e., selected major, dream schools and career aspirations). I then assess where the student is relative to their goals; this allows me to assist the student in developing a realistic college list and to collaboratively map out necessary steps to increase their chances of gaining admission. Also, I help students understand the college admission process so that they are prepared despite the results of their admission.
