As the daughter of immigrant parents, I understand the challenges that first-generation families face as they attempt to navigate the complex college admissions process. My goal is to help take some of the mystery and stress out of the process for both students and parents. As a high school counselor working with over 350 students, I have supported a large number of students through each step of the college admissions process. My professional training in College Admissions Advising enabled me to help develop a Comprehensive College Counseling program at the high school where I work, creating workshop series on topics such as college essay writing, building a college list and successfully completing UC and Common App applications. I also have a background in grant writing, and enjoy using my writing skills to help students craft a strong personal statement. I now supervise other college advising interns in order to increase access to free college counseling services for our school’s first-generation students.

I have been counseling students and families for over 15 years, and I am passionate about supporting students in reaching their post-secondary goals. I believe in encouraging students to look beyond only “name brand” colleges, and helping them find colleges that would be a great fit for their unique interests and personality. California colleges are also a special area of focus for me.
