Ray has spent his career in higher education starting at UCLA as an academic advisor, the Outreach and Recruitment Director at the UCLA School of Medicine, then 12 years at Caltech working in the Undergraduate Admissions office. Ray is a global minded educator who boasts some of UCEazy’s most significant top tier university experience.
Born and raised in southern California, I attended Pomona College majoring in International Relations. After graduating, I wanted to explore some of the world, so I joined the Peace Corps, serving in the Central American countries of El Salvador and Honduras. Upon returning to the U.S., I entered UCLA and received my Master degree in Latin American Studies and continued on with Ph.D, work in Latin American history.
I am currently serving in my 10th year as a college counselor at a private high school in California. With my expertise in the admissions process at a highly selective university and with this knowledge, I am able to help students craft well-written essays and guide families through the admissions process.
I believe that it is important for the student to feel comfortable during the entire process. Having worked in the admissions office of a highly selective university, I know of how applications are initially screened, read and reviewed in an admissions committee. I work to ensure that my students have a thorough understanding of what “holistic” admissions involves so students will be able to complete the best possible applications for college.
