Shari is an experienced college admissions counselor with a Masters in Educational Counseling & Pupil Personnel Services. She is also a UC Berkeley application reader.
I have worked with high school students and their families for the past decade and I am totally obsessed with the entire process of college admissions! I spent my first 8 years as a counselor in one of the strongest math and science schools in the state of California. My position at Monta Vista allowed me to guide students through the college process and earn admissions into the top universities including the Ivies, MIT, Cal Tech and CMU. My current position in the counseling office at an IB school, has expanded my expertise in working with students and colleges around the world. When I’m not helping students with college, I am running around with my two young children and enjoying life in the Bay Area with my husband.

My approach to college admissions is very simple, helping students reach their highest potential. Every student and situation is unique and I believe that getting to know students and their families is most important in creating a successful college plan. I also believe that students are ever changing and perhaps a plan in 9th grade no longer fits in 11th. That being said, I enjoy helping students find the path that is theirs and capitalizing on those natural gifts and talents in the college admissions process. At the core of the entire college admissions process is an amazing student and I pride myself on getting to know that person and what makes him or her tick. This enables me to individualize every piece of the college puzzle in order to meet the needs of the student and their families.
