Tara has been a literacy educator for 14+ years. Since she teaches multilingual students, it has always been her passion to provide them with the tools needed to excel in school and beyond. She believes she can develop a student’s inner voice by providing authentic learning opportunities.
As a teacher of multiple age groups and abilities, I have been able to support literacy growth and to improve my students’ confidence levels. I have a passion for making students feel comfortable when expressing their ideas and taking risks with their writing. Additionally, as a coordinator of ELL programs at a diverse high school, I have insight into the many possibilities for students to be successful in high school and post-secondary planning.
Communicating through writing is an essential lifelong skill. The personal relationship that I develop with my students allows me to provide the appropriate guidance and support that is needed for students to develop their writing.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three daughters. I am an avid runner and biker, but I also love to sit on the beach with an inviting book.
